URBAN RENEWAL
There is a place in Hermanus for indigenous Cape forest and coastal trees, like the Cape Ash, Rooi Els, Stinkhout, Waterpeer or Melkhout to grace Hermanus's inner streets (where conducive mico climatic conditions occure) Trees, generally fed by runoff rain water, will bring, a sense of history, peace and tranquility, to a town that is rapidly turning into a congested 'hoarding infested' nightmare. With examples like the new Checkers and the Quarters Hotel building developments, we may well be advised to ask . . . what plans are being plotted for the remains of the once quaint historic coastal village of Hermanus?
