Hermanus heritage and sense of place destroyed by signage pollution











Hermanus buildings are littered with illegal signs degarding the heritage and tourism values of this town.

You can download the Draft Signage Bylaw document (click on signage window in right column) and check it out. This bylaw 'shall come into operation on the date of publication thereof in the Provincial Gazette'


Anyone concerned with the sickening sight of Hermanus looking like a patchwork 'supermaket specials insert' should follow this process very carefully.

    Beach House Living's building in Hemel en Aarde celebrated the Soccer World Cup for a few months.

    This was a fun and lively campaign that was short lived and did not exhibit large company advertising or signage - so it definitely should not have been used as an example in your blog.

    It is truly a pity when people cannot just have a little fun every now and then.
